For the Synod Let us pray for the Church, that she may adopt listening and dialogue as a style of life at every level, allowing herself to be guided by the Holy Spirit towards the world’s peripheries.

SYNOD SESSIONS RESUME:
The second session is now taking place in Rome, it started on Wednesday 2 October and runs to Sunday 27 October 2024 in order to continue the work of the Synod on Synodality around the theme “For a Synodal Church: communion, participation and mission” Bishop Barron from Winona-Rochester in America has penned his thoughts on his hopes and aspirations as he left for the synod.  The discussions which are taking place are set out in a working document , that all delegates are asked to read before attending. Discussions will consider the involvement of more laity, especially women, in the governance of the Church, in both “decision-making” and “decision-taking.  It will look at practical theology and how our understanding of church institutions and practices can be made more concrete for example setting up lay pastoral councils, accountability etc. And of listening to one another and the Holy Spirit.    https://www.wordonfire.org/articles/barron/as-i-leave-for-the-second-session-of-the-synod/

HARVEST FAST DAY:
Harvest Fast Day was on Friday 4th October. The appeal focuses on the Democratic Republic of Congo. Daniel, a young man in the DRC is carving a better future for his family with carpentry skills he learned in a CAFOD funded training centre. Give to CAFOD today and you’ll fund training, tools, equipment and safe spaces so more people like Daniel can learn new skills and fulfill their God-given potential. Envelopes are available in the church Porches or give online at cafod.org.uk/envelope

BUILDING WORKS – ST THERESA’S:
Work started on Monday 16th September- a week later than scheduled due to the weather. Church services will not be affected, but there will be vans on the car park and a fenced off area for a skip which means unfortunately that the bins are at the front of church. The first pour of concrete has been carried out but work has been hampered by the amount of rain we’ve had which means they have had to pump water out of the holes that have been dug.  Work is still on track for an eight week finish.

SOUND SYSTEM AT ST THERESA’S:
