Anyone can request that a mass be said for a specific intention such as for the repose of the soul of someone, for improved health, for any specific reason or for “a private intention”.
At St Theresa’s, please ring the parish secretary or put an envelope in the offertory basket with the name of the donor, the name of the person the mass is being said for, the intention, the preferred date or day (weekday or weekend) and a contact telephone number, along with the customary donation. This can be any amount with a current value of £5 or £10 or an offering of your choice.
The process is similar at St Columba’s although printed envelopes for this purpose are available from the front or back porch. It is helpful to use block capital letters when giving information to avoid mistakes being made. The envelope can be taken to the church office or put in the offertory basket.
Mass cards can be bought at the Piety Stall, which can be signed by the celebrating priest and then given to the beneficiary by the person requesting the mass.
When the mass is arranged, it appears in the mass intentions section of the Newsletter.
