PETER’S PENCE:
There will be a second collection for Peter’s Pense this weekend. In 1871, Pope Pius IX formalized the practice of lay members of the church and “other persons of good will” providing financial support to the Roman See. Modern “Peter’s Pence” proceeds are used by the Pope for philanthropic works throughout the world and for administrative costs of the Vatican state. Please place donations in the baskets provided in porches.

POPES PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR JUNE:
For those fleeing their own countries – Let us pray that migrants fleeing from war or hunger, forced to undertake journeys fraught with danger and violence, may find welcome and new living opportunities in their host countries.

RECENTLY DECEASED:
Beryl Williams & Chris Duke.  Beryl’s Requiem Mass will be on Friday 5th July at 12 noon at St Theresa’s. May the Lord console their families and friends.

BISHOP’S VISITATION:
The Bishop will visit St Theresa’s on Sunday 14th July.

CONFESSIONS:
There will be Confessions after each weekday Mass until 11.30a.m.
St Columba’s: From 6p.m. before the 6.30p.m. Saturday evening Mass.
St Theresa’s: From 4.30p.m. before 5p.m. Saturday evening Mass.

BLESSING OF THE PEACE GARDEN – 15th JULY:
Mass on this Monday will be at St Theresa’s not St Columba’s, followed by the Blessing of the Peace Garden.  All welcome.

LEPRA APPEAL- 6/7 July:
There will be a retiring collection for this on 6/7 July. See posters.

“BLESSINGS”:
This Sunday, 4.30 p.m. at Holy Ascension.  No charge.  All welcome.

ST COLUMBA’S COFFEE ROTA
The coffee rota is on the noticeboard in St Columba’s Hall. Please enter your name and good cause against your preferred dates. You could make £30-£50 for your chosen cause.

St Columba’s: If you are a red Mission box holder, please leave your box in the sacristy for counting and pick up your emptied box, with your name on, from the table in the rear porch.
St Theresa’s Please leave your box in the sacristy to be counted.

ANNUAL COACH TRIP TO LICHFIELD 2024:
If you would like to go to Lichfield for the day for just £15.00, please enter your name on the list in the front porch of your church. Thurs 25th July, leaving St Cs at 9:00am, St Ts 9:15am, more info on posters.

CONFIRMATION ENROLEMENT:
A warm welcome to the Confirmation candidates and their families who will be enrolling at St. Columba’s this weekend. Please pray for all young people in Chester who are preparing to be Confirmed at St.Columba’s next November.

AN EVENING WITH SINFONIA:
SINFONIA is a local group of musicians who use St. Columba’s Church Hall for rehearsals. They have again invited the Parish to join them on Friday 5th July at 7pm for their “end of term” party. This has always been an enjoyable evening.  Please come along.  Admission free – light refreshments provided. Retiring collection for Dee Banks School.

If you are NEW TO THE PARISH, you will find a new Parish Registration Form which you can download, print and complete in order to let us know that you are new here and enable us to welcome you properly to the parish. Instructions are on the form, which can also be found in the front porches of both churches. You will find the form on the Our Parish tab, under Welcome (side option Welcome).

ST COLUMBA’S 60th ANNIVERSARY:
This will be in September. This is an opportunity to update the archives with events that have happened in the past 60 years.   If anyone has any pictures/newspaper items/memorabilia relating to the Parish during this time, it would be very helpful.   Items can either be handed in to Parish Office or left in Sacristy for my attention.  Please include your contact details. FISH AND CHIP BABIES:
The number of items sent off to Africa is now approaching 900. These include jumpers, hats, scarves blankets and knitted bags.  The churches involved include Holy Ascension, St Columba’s, St Theresa’s St Clare’s, Upton URC, St Werburgh’s and now Caldy Valley Church. Many thanks to those of you who have been knitting. CAFOD and SVP “Catholic Call for Action at the General Election”:
As reported in the newsletter on the 16th June we emailed the 5 candidates standing for election in the “Chester North and Neston constituency” asking for their views on the  3 issues which came out as the main priorities “The Cost of Living Crisis”, “Climate” and “Aid and International Development”.  The replies will be posted on the Parish website and a copy will be on the Church noticeboard.

FREE WARTIME BIOGRAPHIES:
A lady from St Werburgh’s Church visited St.Columba’s. She brought in a book called “We Shall Remember Them” – Biographies of men associated with St. Werburgh’s Church” Apparently there is a misprint in them and are being given away for free. For details contact Annmarie Curtis 01244 851717. Copy in St. Columba’s front porch.

SHREWSBURY LORDES HOSPTALITY:
The next meeting is at St Mary’s Caritas Centre, Delamere St, Crewe, CW1 2JX on Sat 13 July at 3pm. Register your attendance and make any apologies to secretary@teamshrewsbury.co.uk After the meeting members are invited to attend the 5.30pm Vigil Mass at St Mary’s Church, to join in prayer for the success of the forthcoming Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes.
